Moksha - MokshaThe haze that surrounds this album is no doubt very real, recorded in one and somehow its actually seeped into the tape, like when you are talking on the phone and you can smell the onions your chat companion is frying.
Entirely created on synths, recorded live to 2-track with no overdubs, its one of those rare albums, that the warts are as precious as the clear pinnacles, and in fact without them the music would be poorer. Looking at the list of synths on the back, gives you a good idea of what's in store, d-50, ems synthi, ms-20, sh-101, lots of beautiful old analogue wizardry , whisps and mists...
The music itself is either drum-less ambient or drum-machined groovy excursions, the former full of shakey pads, gurgling dives and synthi whoops and the latter, well more of the same, but with some very bizarre bad-jazz soloing, lots of strange notes (i don't know if these are intentional or mistakes, either way they work to give this album its unique charm). The drum machine programmingis pretty dated to say the least, but becomes timeless because of the vibe of the whole work.
It's a perfect example of music played for love, perfectly being transferred to tape , retaining and emitting the original vibe for ever more. In terms of synth music, its a gem to have a crusty recording such as this.
